Biography: life and films

Charles Chaplin was an English actor, film director and screenwriter. He was born in London, England on 16th April 1889 and died in Corsier-sur-Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland on 25th December 1977, aged 88.

His best films as an actor include The Kid (1921), The Gold Rush (1925), Modern Times (1936), The Great Dictator (1940) and Monsieur Verdoux (1947), and whose best work as a film director include The Kid (1921), A Woman of Paris (1923), Modern Times (1936) and The Great Dictator (1940).

Charles Chaplin appeared in 40 films, scripted 19 films, directed 18 films (including 3 shorts) and supplied the music for 14 films.
