Gene Wilder is an American actor, film director and screenwriter whose birth name is Jerome Silberman. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA on 11th June 1933.

His best films as an actor include Mel Brooks's comedy The Producers (1968), Mel Stuart's Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971), Blazing Saddles (1974) and Young Frankenstein (1974), and whose best work as a film director include The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975), Sunday Lovers (1980) and The Woman in Red (1984).
