Roddy McDowall was an English actor and film director whose birth name was Roderick Andrew Anthony Jude McDowall. He was born in Herne Hill, London, England, UK on 17th September 1928 and died in Los Angeles, California, USA on 3rd October 1998, aged 70.

His best films as an actor include William Beaudine's Kidnapped (1948), Orson Welles's Macbeth (1948), Franklin J. Schaffner's thriller Planet of the Apes (1968), Don Taylor's comedy-thriller Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) and Hugh Munro Neely's Louise Brooks: Looking for Lulu (1998), and whose best work as a film director include Tam Lin (1970) and The Ballad of Tam Lin (1970).
