A Bigger Splash (2015) Directed by Luca Guadagnino
Crime / Drama / Mystery
Film Synopsis
Marianne Lane is one of the biggest rock stars in the world. Now she
is badly in need of a break, if only to rest her voice, so she jets off for
a relaxing holiday on the tranquil Mediterranean island of Pantelleria with
Paul, her present partner. Marianne's hopes of a peaceful few weeks
in the son are shattered when her record producer Harry Hawkes shows up unexpectedly,
in the company of his daughter Penelope. It was Harry who first brought
Paul and Marianne together, and he now bitterly regrets having done so.
How he would like nothing better than to push Paul aside and reclaim his
former lover. Unfortunately for him, Marianne happens to be perfectly
happy with Paul, who she regards as the ideal catch. Harry isn't so
easily deterred, and it isn't long before his daughter is making eyes at
Paul...

The brighter side of Franz Kafka
In his letters to his friends and family, Franz Kafka gives us a rich self-portrait that is surprisingly upbeat, nor the angst-ridden soul we might expect.
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
In the 1940s, the shadowy, skewed visual style of 1920s German expressionism was taken up by directors of American thrillers and psychological dramas, creating that distinctive film noir look.
