Film Synopsis

At Maubeuge, a police commissioner tries to stave off boredom at his provincial police station as he awaits his long overdue transfer to Paris.  Late one evening, he is visited by Madame Levallois, who frantically entreats him to come to her aid.  Her lover, Jules Bonnard, has just died in her arms, and at the worst possible time.  Her husband is due to return home from a trip at any moment!  Seduced by the desperate woman's charms, the commissioner agrees to help her dispose of the body, but soon discovers that Jules is not dead...
