Comedy / Drama
Film Synopsis
Not long after he arrives in Havana on business matters along with several
other bankers, Olivier Beauregard is summoned back to Paris when ownership
of the bank he works for suddenly changes hands. Olivier knows he must
return to France, if only because his partner is expecting to give birth
very soon, but somehow he cannot bring himself to do so. After the
recent loss of his father, Olivier has been feeling rootless, and since his
arrival in Cuba he has felt a strange affinity for the region. When
his visa expires, the young banker decides to stay in the country illegally
until he has sorted himself out, and he asks his chauffeur Pablo to assist
him...

The Carry On films, from the heyday of British film comedy
Looking for a deeper insight into the most popular series of British film comedies? Visit our page and we'll give you one.
Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
In the 1940s, the shadowy, skewed visual style of 1920s German expressionism was taken up by directors of American thrillers and psychological dramas, creating that distinctive film noir look.
With so many great films to choose from, it's nigh on impossible to compile a short-list of the best 15 French films of all time - but here's our feeble attempt to do just that.
