L'Étoile du jour (2016)
Directed by Sophie Blondy

Drama

Film Synopsis

A travelling circus winds up on a beach bordering the North Sea and has difficulty attracting an audience.  Despite this, the performers are as devoted to their art as ever and for the few who attend their shows a good time is guaranteed.  The fragile harmony holding the troupe together risks being shattered when the clown Elliot falls madly in love with the ballerina Angèle.  What promises to be an idyllic romance is threatened by the jealous Heroy, who intends using his status as the manager of the circus to win the young woman for himself.  Meanwhile, the troupe's gypsy has her own amorous designs on Elliot.  As the true natures of the circus performers start to emerge, the unity of the group suddenly begins to disintegrate, with disastrous consequences...
