Laurent Balzan, an ambitious 27-year-old company executive, leads a privileged
and comfortable life in France. For Safiatou, a woman from Mali who
now lives in France, Laurent's junior by three years, life is somewhat more
challenging. These two young people, who come from two wildly differently
worlds, come into contact by chance on the internet and soon discover a strong
mutual attraction. Well, it's a well-known fact that opposites attract...
As they get to know one another, Laurent and Safiatou soon come to realise
that they are meant for one another, in spite of the fact that both are already
engaged. The former is affianced to Marie-Domitille, a young woman from
a well-heeled family of Laurent's own milieu; the latter is to marry a man
in her own country. The course of true love never did run smoothly,
and Laurent and Safiatou soon discover just how true this adage is as they
embark on a love affair where everything seems to be against them...

Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
