Marc, 19, works as a hairdresser in an upmarket salon in
Brussels. He dreams only of taking part in the next car rally,
which is due to take place in two days' time. Accompanied by his
girlfriend Michèle, he runs through the streets of the capital,
hoping to scrape together enough money so that he can hire a car.
Marc is on the point of giving up when, at the last moment, someone
offers him the use of his Porsche. He and Michèle spend
the night together in a hotel, near to where the race is to begin the
next morning...

The best of Russian cinema
There's far more to Russian movies than the monumental works of Sergei Eisenstein - the wondrous films of Andrei Tarkovsky for one.
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
A wave of fresh talent in the late 1950s, early 1960s brought about a dramatic renaissance in French cinema, placing the auteur at the core of France's 7th art.
