Film Synopsis

Just as she is about to marry her dashing fiancé Robert Zamietti, the young and wealthy heiress Hélène de Richemond is given a letter from her mother, who died shortly after giving birth to her.  Brought up by her aunt and uncle, Hélène has never seen her father, so she is surprised to learn, on reading the letter, that he is none other than Henri Bruquier, a once renowned art critic who is presently serving a 25 year long prison sentence for the murder of his wife.  Convinced of her father's innocence, Hélène sets about uncovering the identity of the person who committed the crime...
