Film Synopsis

In 1979, Carole and Jérôme set out on a package tour to Odessa, the historic seaport behind the Iron Curtain.  Both are in their early twenties and are cousins, but they pretend they are engaged to be married.  By day, they pass themselves off as tourists, visiting the famous museums and monuments.  By night, they slip away from their group and have secret meetings with Refuseniks, Jews who are persecuted by the Soviet regime.  Carole and Jérôme discover an unknown world that is both brutal and absurd...
