Magda finds it hard to cope when she loses both her job as a teacher and
her husband in quick succession. She is left to bring up her ten-year-old
boy Dani alone, with the slimmest of means. Then comes the third blow:
it appears she has breast cancer. Rather than give in under this onslaught
of misfortune, Magda decides to fight back and make the most of what life
has to offer her. In due course, love returns to her, in the form of
Arturo, a young man who has his own share of woes, and she can count on the
moral support of her good-natured doctor. One day, she can't help noticing
a photograph of a Siberian orphan in her gynaecologist's surgery. The
girl's name is Natasha, and for some reason Magda cannot stop dreaming about
her...
