Comedy / Drama
aka: Thanks for the Gesture
Film Synopsis
At 55, Michel finds himself without a home and without a future.
It wasn't so long ago that he was running a successful company, that he
had an adoring wife and beautiful daughter. Now, alone and
homeless, he spends his time aimlessly wandering the streets of Paris,
grimly contemplating what the future has in store for him. Then,
just as he reaches the end of his tether, he makes a new friend.
A stray dog takes a liking to him and starts to follow him
around. Michel's new companion pulls him back from the edge of
the abyss and restores a sense of purpose to his ruined life...

The very best fantasy films in French cinema
Whilst the horror genre is under-represented in French cinema, there are still a fair number of weird and wonderful forays into the realms of fantasy.
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
