Amy Jolly is a cabaret singer who hopes to make a new life for herself in
Morocco. Before she disembarks from the liner that transports her to
her adopted country she is courted by La Bessière, a wealthy playboy
who likes to paint in his spare time. Refusing La Bessière's
invitation to help him settle in his new home, Amy finds work as a singer
in a nightclub in the bustling town of Mogador. It is a popular hive
frequented by legionnaires and it isn't long before Amy's gaze is drawn to
a handsome young soldier of the desert, Tom Brown. Both Amy and Tom
are disillusioned with life and gradually they come to realise they are in
love. Realising that a soldier's life is not for him, Tom contemplates
