Film Synopsis

The Duke of Reichstadt, the only son of the Emperor Napoleon, receives a warm welcome from his maternal grandfather, the Emperor Francis II of Austria.  His mother, Marie-Louise, Duchess of Parma, consoles herself with her husband's exile by taking a lover, the Count von Neipperg, with whom she has two children.  Whilst his entourage try to encourage him to forget his illustrious father, the young Duke of Reichstadt continues to nurture ardent feelings for him.  He knows that one day he will be a worthy successor, known to posterity as Napoleon II...
