Poison (1935)
Directed by Man Ray

Short

Film Synopsis

A man in his mid-forties (Man Ray) is enjoying the company of an attractive young woman in her twenties (the artist Meret Oppenheim).  They are conscious of being filmed and cannot resist making faces at the camera whilst smoking a cigarette.  The man begins drinking a glass of whisky and immediately senses that there is something amiss with the drink.  Even so, he carries on drinking and seems to brighten up under its intoxicating influence.  But then his expression changes.  It is as if a malaise has suddenly come upon him.  He lets out a stifled cry and falls back in his chair, his face wracked in agony.  Finally, the man's body goes limp and he appears at last to be in a peaceful slumber.  Then, all of a sudden, his eyes spring wide open and he looks upwards...
