Film Synopsis

Mirabelle is the finest and most dedicated of working horses. For a party of woodcutters working in the Ardennes forest, there is no better horse than this strong and dependable mare. But one day misfortune strikes. Patrick, the son of the horse's owner, causes an accident and poor Mirabelle takes the blame. The horse is taken away to be sold, leaving behind a foal, Pom, who is desperately ill-equipped to cope with the sudden departure of his mother. Straight away, Pom becomes moody and uncooperative, and his health soon begins to deteriorate. His groom Julien becomes anxious for the little horse. Try as he might, he can do nothing to change the poor creature's state of mind. In the end, Julien decides that drastic measures are called for if he is to save his beloved Pom from going the same way as his unfortunate mother...
