aka: Back to Mom's
Film Synopsis
When Stéphanie, 40, goes back to live with her mother, Jacqueline,
she is welcomed with open arms. But what starts out as a happy reunion
soon turns into an endurance test for both women. There is, after all,
a limit to how many times you can listen to a Francis Cabrel song without
wanting to garrotte yourself, and if the highlight of your evening is yet
another game of Scrabble you know there is something seriously wrong with
your life. Worst of all, Stéphanie has to put up with her mother
constantly correcting her on her table manners. Things do not improve
when Stéphanie's siblings - Nicolas and Carole - turn up for a family
dinner. Now is the time for old grievances to be aired and scores to
be settled. So much for the nicer side of family life...
It was American film noir and pulp fiction that kick-started the craze for thrillers in 1950s France and made it one of the most popular and enduring genres.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
