Drama
Film Synopsis
When her wealthy, famous mother is away, a little girl named Rose makes
an attempt to understand the adult world through the inquisitive eye of
her camera. Alone in a large hotel that resembles a palace,
she sets out to interview various women, who are as willing to unburden
their thoughts and feelings as she is to listen to them.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
In the 1910s, French cinema led the way with a new industry which actively encouraged innovation. From the serials of Louis Feuillade to the first auteur pieces of Abel Gance, this decade is rich in cinematic marvels.
In the 1940s, the shadowy, skewed visual style of 1920s German expressionism was taken up by directors of American thrillers and psychological dramas, creating that distinctive film noir look.
Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
