Sur quel pied danser (2016) Directed by Paul Calori, Kostia Testut
Comedy / Musical
Film Synopsis
Julie is struggling to make a living when, not long after her arrival in
the town of Romans in southeast France, she gets a job at a workshop that
manufactures luxury footwear. The work is rewarding and reasonably
well paid, and for once Julie starts to feel secure in her life. She
meets a young lorry driver, Samy, who makes an easy conquest of her with
his unsubtle charms. Just when everything seems to be going well for
Julie she hears rumours that the owners of the factory are planning to relocate
in a bid to lower their production costs. The news is soon confirmed
and the workforce are up in arms. The more militant employees band
together in a frantic effort to keep their jobs, but Julie is unsure what
to do. Should she take an active stand against the planned relocation
or should she keep a low profile so as not to antagonise her employers?
Samy knows which side he is on - why can't Julie make up her mind...?

The best French Films of the 1920s
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
In the 1940s, the shadowy, skewed visual style of 1920s German expressionism was taken up by directors of American thrillers and psychological dramas, creating that distinctive film noir look.
