Sweet Valentine (2010)
Directed by Emma Luchini

Comedy / Drama

Film Synopsis

Sonia is a young girl from the provinces who has barely been in Paris five minutes before Cupid strikes his fatal blow.  As soon as she claps eyes on Ivan she knows at once that this divine creature is the man she has been waiting for all her life.  He is her Prince Charming, her soul mate, her ideal companion - everything she could possible want in a man!  Now that she has found the object of her heart's desire, she has not the least intention of letting her darling Valentine go - which is somewhat unfortunate as he cannot stand the sight of her and wishes she would drop dead.

Ivan is a small-time crook by profession, and a pretty nasty piece of work by character.  If there's one thing he can do without it is torrents of unwelcome adulation from a woman who is patently off her rocker.  Some marriages are made in Heaven.  Any fool can see that Sonia's intended union with Ivan has been forged in the deepest pit of Hell.  The more ardently Sonia goes after her beloved hero, the more fervently does Ivan want to force her through a razor-tipped meat grinder.  Sonia appears not to be concerned by her beau idéal's obvious lack of interest in her.  She is a patient woman and she knows that sooner or later Ivan will give in and whisk her up the aisle towards a life of marital bliss.  Giving into Sonia is just about the last thing Ivan has in mind...
