Documentary
aka: Land of the Bears
Film Synopsis
Kamchatka, a bleak natural wilderness located in the eastmost region of
Russia is the domain of the brown bear. Across the seasons, bears
of both sexes, young and fully grown, have their preoccupations.
The mother must feed and protect her cubs, who are too eager to explore
the world around them, heedless of its dangers. A bear on the
threshold of adulthood must learn to fend for itself and the adult male
must constantly defend its territory, by force if necessary...
The cinema of Japan is noteworthy for its purity, subtlety and visual impact. The films of Ozu, Mizoguchi and Kurosawa are sublime masterpieces of film poetry.
