Agust leaves Iceland to study management in Paris but soon abandons his
studies so that he can devote himself to his real passion in life:
music. Several years later, he returns to his home country at the
invitation of his father, Thordur, accompanied by his French
fiancée Françoise. Thordur is the owner of a fish
cannery that is threatened by recent changes to fish quotas. His
company faces ruin but he refuses to take his eldest son's advice to
sell it whilst he can. Instead, Thordur hopes that Ahust will
take over his business...
