Film Synopsis
Louise comes from a family of bourgeois Italian immigrants, who settled
in France in the 1970s when the Red Brigades were causing terror in their
home country. Now in her early forties, Louise has no husband, no children,
and, being an actress by profession, no steady job - much to the chagrin of
her doting mother who is keen to see her settled. In the midst of a
mid-life crisis, Louise has to cope not only with attending to her sick brother
Ludovic, who is dying from an AIDS-related illness, but also with the upheavals
resulting from the sale of the family home. It is at this trying moment
that Nathan, a man twenty years her junior, suddenly enters her life.
There is an obvious mutual attraction, but Louise's insistence on having
a baby as soon as possible risks driving away her new lover, who is not yet
ready for the demands of fatherhood. When Ludovic dies, Louise's emotional
state deteriorates further...
