Visages, villages (2017)
Directed by JR, Agnès Varda

Documentary
aka: Faces Places

Film Synopsis

The filmmaker Agnès Varda and photographer JR have much in common, in particular their fascination with images and the way these can be used to capture the essence of a location, giving it a voice and identity all of its own.  Following their felicitous first meeting in 2015, these two idiosyncratic artists agreed to work together and make a film in France, far from the familiar urban landscapes.  In JR's studio-van, they made their way across the byways of France, to meet people (farmers, labourers, shop girls), photograph them and exhibit the photographs in the place where they live.  Could this shared exploit be a clever ruse by Varda to get JR to reveal something about himself...?
