Catherine Rouvel is a French film actress. She was born in Marseille, France on 31 August 1939. Rouvel started out as a stage actress, learning her craft in several plays by Molière, before her sizzling sensuality was first captured on film by Jean Renoir in Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe (1959). Julien Duvivier gave her one of her most sultry roles in the tense noir thriller Chair de poule (1963), and her lesbian love scene in Jean Valère's Mont-Dragon (1970) brought her a certain notoriety. In a long and busy screen career, Catherine Rouvel has worked with some of France's finest film directors, including Marcel Carné (Les Assassins de l'ordre), Claude Chabrol (La Rupture) and Jean-Jacques Annaud (Noirs et blancs en couleur).
