Groucho Marx was an American actor and screenwriter whose birth name was Julius Henry Marx. He was born in New York City, New York, USA on 2nd October 1890 and died in Los Angeles, California, USA on 19th August 1977, aged 86.

His best films as an actor include Victor Heerman's comedy Animal Crackers (1930), Norman Z. McLeod's Horse Feathers (1932), Leo McCarey's Duck Soup (1933), Sam Wood's A Night at the Opera (1935) and A Day at the Races (1937), and whose best work as a screenwriter include Mervyn LeRoy's The King and the Chorus Girl (1937) and Irving Brecher's The Life of Riley (1949).
