Jacques Tourneur was a French film director whose birth name was Jacques Thomas. He was born in Paris, France on 12th November 1904 and died in Bergerac, France on 19th December 1977, aged 73.

His best films as a film director include Cat People (1942), I Walked with a Zombie (1943), Out of the Past (1947), Night of the Demon (1957) and Nightfall (1957), and whose best work as an actor include Edmund Goulding's Love (1927), Sam Wood's comedy The Fair Co-Ed (1927) and Clarence Brown's The Trail of '98 (1928).
