Marcel Camus was a French film director. He was born in Chappes, Ardennes, France on 21st April 1912 and died in Paris, France on 13th January 1982, aged 69.

His best films as a film director include Orfeu Negro (1959), The Pioneers (1961) and L'oiseau de paradis (1963), and whose best work as a screenwriter include Daniel Gélin's Les Dents longues (1952), Orfeu Negro (1959) and Le Chant du monde (1965).
