Film Synopsis
One day, a little boy named Lukas is exploring a mountain forest when he
comes across an eaglet, left alone in his nest after being abandoned by his
mother. Christening the little bird Abel, Lukas takes it home with
him and intends rearing it to adulthood. He keeps his discovery from
his authoritarian father and, with the help of a kindly forest ranger named
Danzer, he succeeds in caring for the growing eagle. In no time, Abel
and Lukas are the best of friends. As the bird matures, so does his
guardian, and all too soon the day comes when they must part. After

The best of Japanese cinema
The cinema of Japan is noteworthy for its purity, subtlety and visual impact. The films of Ozu, Mizoguchi and Kurosawa are sublime masterpieces of film poetry.
It was American film noir and pulp fiction that kick-started the craze for thrillers in 1950s France and made it one of the most popular and enduring genres.
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
Franz Kafka's letters to his fiancée Felice Bauer not only reveal a soul in torment; they also give us a harrowing self-portrait of a man appalled by his own existence.
