History / Musical
aka: Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Arc

Film Synopsis

In 1425, an anonymous eight-year-old shepherd girl named Jeannette is growing up in Domrémy, a little village in the northeast of France, completely unaware of what the future has in store for her.  Within a few years she will become the most famous woman in France, the girl warrior who would lead her country's armies to several historic victories over the English.  Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orleans, Saint Joan - these are names for the future, not yet spoken.

Little Jeanne has a few years of quiet obscurity left before history claims her and turns her into both a legendary heroine and a saint.  Whilst tending to her sheep, deeply affected by the injustices and suffering she sees all around her, Jeannette begins to experience the first stirrings of her spiritual awakening.  It is the start of a divine communication that will guide her to glory, destruction and sainthood.  The battles and betrayals that lie ahead seem to call out to the girl, almost as if the future has already been written...
