Film Synopsis
Over a period of several months in 1978-9, a community in the Oise is
caught in the grip of terror as a serial killer goes after young women
in the area. At first, the maniac was content to mow down women
in his car. Then he began picking up and murdering hitch-hikers
at random. The man seems to be everywhere and nowhere, able to
escape any attempts to capture him. In fact he is a young and
seemingly inoffensive police officer who has, until now, led an
ordinary and uneventful existence. The model policeman, he ends
up having to investigate his own crimes...

The best of American cinema
Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
The cinema of Japan is noteworthy for its purity, subtlety and visual impact. The films of Ozu, Mizoguchi and Kurosawa are sublime masterpieces of film poetry.
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
