Kamel survives as best he can, mixing odd jobs with the occasional
criminal exploit, in the deprived north suburbs of Paris. One
day, he has a revelation. Why shouldn't he start his own
company? Naturally, his friends laugh at the idea but Kamel is
determined to pursue his dream. With the help of his 17-year-old
girlfriend Edwige and her father, a company boss, he starts up his own
business, financed with a state grant. But running a
company is not quite as straightforward as Kamel had imagined and he
soon runs into trouble...

The very best sci-fi movies
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
From its birth in 1895, cinema has been an essential part of French culture. Now it is one of the most dynamic, versatile and important of the arts in France.
