Film Synopsis

Pierre Durban, a journalist on a Parisian newspaper, needs some money so that he can marry his girlfriend Jacqueline Dejouvre and start a family.  A small ad leads him to the Stefani Agency, whose manager offers him work.  But there is a snag.  Pierre must put up a sum of money before he can start.   As it happens, Stefani's secretary is Marcelle Levasseur, a girl Pierre knew as a child.  She suggests that his mother should help him out with her savings.  She also tries to dissuade Pierre because she knows that Stefani is a swindler.  When Stefani learns that Marcelle has betrayed him, he decides to enact a cruel revenge...
