To manage her estate, Araminte, a wealthy widow, has need of a steward,
so she hires Dorante. Not content with discharging his
professional duties, Dorante is determined to win the heart and the
hand of Araminte. With the assistance of his valet Dubois,
he resorts to trickery to win the confidence of his mistress and make
her his wife...
