Marie and Eric are a couple in their thirties who have been together
since high school. They are about to buy their first apartment
when Marie has second thoughts and falls for another man, a handsome,
dark haired stranger. Acting on impulse, Marie leaves Eric and
hurls herself into a more liberated and individualistic mode of
existence, where anything seems to be possible. But Marie soon
realises that her new life has its downside. To be a single woman
at her age is regarded with suspicion by most people. Thanks to
her new friendships, Marie discovers a new lease of life and has a
better chance of finding the happiness she seeks...

The very best American film comedies
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
A wave of fresh talent in the late 1950s, early 1960s brought about a dramatic renaissance in French cinema, placing the auteur at the core of France's 7th art.
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
