Les Hommes du feu (2017)
Directed by Pierre Jolivet

Drama

Film Synopsis

Philippe, a man in his mid-40s, runs a fire-fighting brigade in the south of France.  Bénédicte, a younger woman, is a recent recruit and has to endure a veritable baptism of fire that causes her to wonder if she had made the right career choice.  In the midst of a protracted heat wave there are more fires than usual, and some are obviously of criminal origin.  When one of the people she rescues dies from his injuries Bénédicte is on the point of abandoning her job, but a few well-chosen words from Philippe prompt her to have second thoughts.  Before the summer is out, Bénédicte and her brave colleagues will have their work cut out as they become the target of some of the nastiest thugs in the suburbs...

The brighter side of Franz Kafka

In his letters to his friends and family, Franz Kafka gives us a rich self-portrait that is surprisingly upbeat, nor the angst-ridden soul we might expect.
The best of American cinema

Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
The best of Indian cinema

Forget Bollywood, the best of India's cinema is to be found elsewhere, most notably in the extraordinary work of Satyajit Ray.
The greatest French film directors

From Jean Renoir to François Truffaut, French cinema has no shortage of truly great filmmakers, each bringing a unique approach to the art of filmmaking.
