Film Synopsis

Anne et Paul are preparing for their next car rally when their car breaks down in a remote corner of the French Alps.  Finding a telephone in this benighted district proves to be a nigh on impossible task, so Anne sets off to look for help.  Nearby, an astrophysicist named René is preoccupied in his observatory, his attention being drawn not to the stars but to his soul mate Géraldine, who is amusing herself with a local shepherd.  Further afield, a group of military men are carrying out training exercises under the orders of an over-zealous sergeant-major.  It is the time of the Gulf War and the latter is taking no chances.  When he sees a party of filmmakers doing a recce in the area he is sure they are dangerous spies and acts accordingly.  Then the sergeant-major lays his hands on a disk containing the plans of what he believes to be the next Iraqi offensive.  In fact, it is the map of a car rally which Anne has somehow mislaid...
