Film Synopsis
Between 1971 and 1973, Chantal Akerman lived in New York and developed an
affinity for the city that would stay with her all her life. But at
the same time she was living apart from her mother, for whom she had as great
an affinity. Living in Brussels, Akerman's mother would send her frequent
letters during her time in New York. In her film 'Letters Home' Akerman
expresses her love of New York and her sense of separation from her nearest
relative by reading her mother's letters over a nostalgic montage of shots
of New York...
