Film Synopsis
King Louis XVI of France is so preoccupied with his favourite hobby, messing about with locks, that he is oblivious to the suffering of his starving subjects and the growing tide of resentment. Marat, on the other hand, is well aware of the mood that is in the air and intends to turn it to his advantage, overthrowing the government and gaining power for himself. At this propitious moment in French history, an all-powerful Caliph arrives in France to attend an exhibition of torture and find out more about Dr Guiollotin's new invention. His visit is scheduled for the 14th July, the date on which the Bastille is to be stormed by a hoard of ingrates!© James Travers
