Nénette (2010)
Directed by Nicolas Philibert

Documentary

Film Synopsis

Nénette is the star attraction of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris.  Now that she has reached the grand old age of forty, this orang-utan from the jungles of Borneo is one of the oldest surviving apes in captivity, and people come from all over the world to see her.  The doyenne of the ape world, Nénette is older than the staff who attend to her, and she is healthy enough to live some years yet.  Within her comfortable glass-walled enclosure, she and her son Tübo watch with amusement at all the people who come to visit her.  They are a strange lot, these humans, making strange faces and funny gestures.  They ought to be in a zoo!  With this constant distraction, Nénette is never likely to get bored, and she laps up the attention, unaware that she has become a world famous celebrity...
