Film Synopsis
Whilst swimming at a holiday resort on the Atlantic coast, the young
and sensual Marie is horrified to discover a corpse washed up on the
beach. The dead man is identified as a local dentist who was
apparently killed by a bullet in the head. Inspector Molinat
takes charge of the investigation and has no shortage of suspects,
including Marie herself. The plot thickens when a second body is
discovered, and then a third. This is turning out to be a very
murderous summer...
It was American film noir and pulp fiction that kick-started the craze for thrillers in 1950s France and made it one of the most popular and enduring genres.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
