François Perrin is a professional photographer who is keen to
forge a new career for himself in cinema. With his friend Henri
he writes a script, a classic love story, but for some reason no one
seems interested in financing the film. In the end, the script
falls into the lap of Bob Morlock, a producer of pornographic movies,
who agrees (after a few minor alterations) to make the film under the
title La Vaginale.
Ignoring the protestations of his fiancée Christine,
François accepts Morlock's offer, unaware that Christine intends
to play the main role in the film. Things go from bad to worse
when Christine finds Morlock's secretary, Marie-France, in her
fiancé's wardrobe...

The history of French cinema
From its birth in 1895, cinema has been an essential part of French culture. Now it is one of the most dynamic, versatile and important of the arts in France.
With so many great films to choose from, it's nigh on impossible to compile a short-list of the best 15 French films of all time - but here's our feeble attempt to do just that.
It was American film noir and pulp fiction that kick-started the craze for thrillers in 1950s France and made it one of the most popular and enduring genres.
From Jean Renoir to François Truffaut, French cinema has no shortage of truly great filmmakers, each bringing a unique approach to the art of filmmaking.
