Film Synopsis
At 40, Mélina has the best-known voice in France. The host
of a night time radio show, she has set herself up as the nation's
agony aunt, cheerfully and cheekily unravelling the personal crises of
her listeners. Everyone knows her voice, but no one knows her
face. In real life, she is something of a recluse. She
lives alone, like an old maid, in an upmarket district. Anxious to find
the mother she has never seen, Mélina tracks her down to a large
family living in the suburbs. She makes up her mind to approach
her, without revealing her identity...
It was American film noir and pulp fiction that kick-started the craze for thrillers in 1950s France and made it one of the most popular and enduring genres.
Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
