Biography: life and films

Abstract picture representing Karin Viard
Karin Viard is a French film actress. She was born in Rouen, France on 24 January 1966. Viard's acting career got off to a flying start in the early 1990s through her appearance in two popular film comedies: Étienne Chatiliez's Tatie Danielle and Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Delicatessen. Over the following decade, she proved not only to be adept at playing comedy but also had what it took to deal with tough dramatic roles. The latter included the part of a young woman coping with a traumatic cancer treatment in Solveig Anspach's Haut les coeurs! (1999), which won her a Best Actress César. Michel Blanc's comedy Embrassez qui vous voudrez (2002) earned her a second César. A talented and versatile actress, Karin Viard continues to be sought after by some of France's top auteur filmmakers, a diverse mix that includes Costa-Gavras, François Ozon, Philippe Harel, Tonie Marshall and Cédric Klapisch.
