Film Synopsis

Maxime and Esteban are the closest of friends.  They live in the same apartment block in Paris and have become inseparable, although their backgrounds could hardly be more different.  After his father died, Maxime lives with his mother, but she is too preoccupied with her work as a lawyer to show him any interest.  Deprived of affection, the 13-year-old boy has come to regard Esteban's household as his true home.  Esteban's family of Spanish immigrants provides the warmth and attention that Maxime badly needs and without which his existence would be unbearable.  Maxime looks upon Esteban more as a brother than a friend.  Without him life would be unimaginable.

Then comes the terrible day when Esteban's father finds himself a lucrative job in a pleasant region of his own country.  Eavesdropping on his neighbour, Maxime can hardly believe his ears.  In less than a month, just when the summer holidays are about to start, Esteban and his family will leave France for good, to begin a new life in Spain!  Naturally, Esteban's father decides to keep this fact from his son, so as not to worsen his already worrying school results.  Unable to contemplate a future without his dear friend, Maxime soon turns his mind to the problem of preventing the impending separation...
