Comedy
aka: Odd Job
Film Synopsis
Like so many people in the small town where he lives, Jacques has found it
impossible to find another job after the closure of the factory where he
has worked for several years. He is struggling to keep his head above
water as debts pile up around him when he receives a strange offer of work
from Gardot, a local mobster. The latter will give Jacques a large
sum of money if he will rid him of wife. Lured by the prospect of each
cash, Jacques agrees and the contact is duly executed. Gardot then
engages him a second time, to dispose of a company boss. It is in the
course of these murderous exploits that Jacques gets to meet Anita, with
whom he falls madly in love. Jacques's dealings with Gardot are about
to take a nasty turn...

The best of Russian cinema
There's far more to Russian movies than the monumental works of Sergei Eisenstein - the wondrous films of Andrei Tarkovsky for one.
Continental Films, quality cinema under the Nazi Occupation
At the time of the Nazi Occupation of France during WWII, the German-run company Continental produced some of the finest films made in France in the 1940s.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
