Film Synopsis
Somewhere in the Ardennes, the scattered remnants of a family come
together to offer a final present to their dying mother. They
agree to give her the gift she could never dream of: Dave, the famous
singer she idolises. But it is an ambitious undertaking for the
siblings who have for a long time found it hard to communicate with one
another. Their love for their mother will give them the strength
they need to achieve their objective, much to the chagrin of their
victim, Dave...
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
With so many great films to choose from, it's nigh on impossible to compile a short-list of the best 15 French films of all time - but here's our feeble attempt to do just that.
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
