Saturnin Fabre was a French film actor. He was born in Sens, France on 4 April 1884 and died in Montgeron, France on 24 October 1961. A superb character actor with a forceful presence and distinctive voice, Fabre graced 79 films, many of which are now considered classics (Pépé le Moko, Les Portes de la nuit). He worked with some of the greatest filmmakers in France, including Albert Capellani, Julien Duvivier, Marcel L'Herbier and Sacha Guitry, and was equally adept at playing in popular comedies (alongside such stars as Fernandel) and serious dramas. In addition to being a fine actor, Fabre was also a talented musician - he could play the clarinet and composed several songs.
