Serge Gainsbourg was a French actor, singer and film director whose birth name was Lucien Ginsburg. He was born in Paris, France on 2nd April 1928 and died in Paris, France on 2nd March 1991, aged 62.

His best films as a musician include Raoul Lévy's The Defector (1966), Bertrand Blier's thriller Si j'étais un espion (1967), Georges Lautner's crime-thriller Le Pacha (1968), Robert Benayoun's Paris n'existe pas (1969) and Je t'aime moi non plus (1976), and whose best work as a film director include Je t'aime moi non plus (1976), Équateur (1983) and Charlotte for Ever (1986).
